My hubby informed me recently that I married in to the right family when it comes to football. He of course said this on the heels of the Pittsburgh Steeler's making it into this year's Super Bowl. He also made a cute remark about what a good team I "picked" to like. This is the third Super Bowl they've been in since we got married, which I guess is kind of unheard of!
I never did have a favorite football team, and since my own family growing up didn't have one, I certainly didn't pay enough attention to football to pick one of my own. So, upon marrying Rich 11 years ago I consequently became an avid Steeler's fan. As did our children.
Having your favorite team in the Super Bowl does make it a lot more fun, I must say. That, and having a clue what is going on on the field. This I have to give thanks to my old cheer coach who realized her freshman team had no idea when to cheer for what. After our first game or two of cheering "D-E-F-E-N-S-E" when we were actually offense or "1st & 10, Go Fight Win" when we were defense - she decided it was time for a little lesson. So there our squad sat, watching a JV game and learning the basics about football. It's nice to know what exactly is a "1st & 10."
So, my basic knowledge about football coupled with "my favorite team" being in the Super Bowl is bound to make this Sunday's game a good one to watch (with a plateful of party food, of course).
Well, if we were still living in the neighborhood, there would be a bit of a rival party going on since I married into a HUGE Packer's family.
ReplyDeleteMy brother is a Steeler's fan, my dad is loyal to the Kansas City Chiefs but Todd is a major Raiders fan that hails from lineage of Wisconsin roots - meaning PACKERS, BABY!!
But seriously, I could give a rip about football. I'm just interested in the food, so I would definitely be stopping by your abode to check out what's on that party tray :)
I don't have a team, but I do know about the game, and I am always looking for a good excuse to relax and eat delicious food. :). It should be fun!
